Sometimes all it takes to brighten my day is a friendly head peeking over the other side of the fence to say "Hi"! Since moving in last October, we have slowly been getting to know our neighbours. We can't gather with our friends & family, so I have grown very fond of these impromptu conversations. As much as I enjoy human interactions these days, my favourite neighbour has four paws, one blue eye, one brown eye & lives just on the other side of the fence. The … [Read more...] about The Friend On the Other Side of The Fence
A Little Dirt Never Hurt
It is so refreshing working out in the backyard & getting your hands a bit dirty. As the saying goes, a little dirt never hurt anyone. This is our first spring in our rental home & it also happens to be our first home with a backyard. Even though we don't own our home, I wanted to transform our backyard into a beautiful space. Years of neglect from previous tenants had left the yard overgrown & it has quickly become a muddy mess thanks to Lily. Despite the mud, I saw it as a … [Read more...] about A Little Dirt Never Hurt
Just One Drop In The Bucket
There come times in our lives, when our buckets are empty; but it takes just one drop, for God to start slowly re-filling our buckets again. In March, I spent a weekend up at our family property, three hours north of us. At the time, it was maple syrup season & I wasn't going to miss out on a chance to be part of our growing tree-tapping operation (about 15 trees). We got on our boots & headed up the road to check the buckets. Lily would excitedly, run up to the tree and look at the … [Read more...] about Just One Drop In The Bucket
Taking Time To Pause, Rethink & Start Again
There are times when you take on more than you can handle, set goals you can't reach or no longer connect with why you started to do something in the first place. Sometimes you have to hit pause, rethink your thought behind what you are doing & start again. When I started Her Simple Home, we were 8 months into a pandemic, my husband was away & I had this great idea to take a fun blog course & make a blog. I wrote out my WHY & then got to work. I wanted to share the things I … [Read more...] about Taking Time To Pause, Rethink & Start Again
Simple Memory Journal Ideas
Life gets busy, and it can be hard to sit down every day and journal, so here are some keeping a memory journal a little easier. In the summer, my mom was going through old calendars and writing down in a notebook what had happened in past years. I thought this was a great idea and a very simple way to create a memory journal. Generally, at the end of each year, I flip through my old calendar to write down birthdays and important dates into the new calendar. It is fun to see what you … [Read more...] about Simple Memory Journal Ideas
Tackling the Holiday Mess With A Home Refresh
Start 2021 on the right foot by taking time this January to tackle the holiday mess by breaking it down into smaller projects with a home refresh.
